Courthouse Steps

If you don't have time to sew a whole quilt, but would still like to contribute something, the Courthouse Steps block is a great place to start! Sew one, two, or even a dozen of the Courthouse Steps blocks, and send them to us. When we have enough blocks for one blanket/quilt, we'll put them together and do the rest of the work. We'll even provide fabric if you need it.

Click on the thumbnail for a full-size block pattern. It should print out at 6.5" square. At that size, it can be used as a foundation for a paper-pieced block, or you may use it simply as a placement guide if you are already familiar with sewing log cabin style http://www.sewforhopenow.com/?page_id=1415. If you use it for foundation piecing, as long as your finished block measures anywhere from 6.25" to 6.75" - we can work with it. If you don't know how to assemble a log cabin/courthouse steps block, click on either of the links below. Try some of the variations too - you never know how they'll turn out! :)
